Graduate student, Erim Gomez, won the best wildlife photo award at the 2011 joint meeting of the Society for Northwest Vertebrate Biology and the Washington Chapter of The Wildlife Society.
The winning photo is a closeup of a Western Spadefoot Toad (Spea hammondii) taken at Washington State University as it was emerging from being buried in sand. This photo was also pictured in several posters presented at scientific conferences in 2011.
